Due to restrictions put in place to combat the Covid-19 outbreak, the 2020 Hardrock Challenge has been cancelled.

The organising team is disappointed but want to ensure they keep everyone safe.

They hope the event will return in 2021 once the restrictions are lifted.


The Dalbeattie Hardrock Challenge Senior Event is a 26 mile Duathlon which takes place in October entirely within Dalbeattie Forest. 

The course consists of a challenging 10 mile run held on rough forest roads and a 16 mile bike section, the majority of which follows the Red Grade Hardrock Trail. 

The event start, bike changeover and finish is at the Richorn Trailhead Car Park, part of the 7stanes Mountain Bike Project.

The entrants can do the event as a single person covering both the run and the biking or be in a team of two, consisting of a runner and a biker. All entrants will receive a time. 

Prizes and trophies for all categories are presented after the event in a local pub. There is a catering van and mobile shower block on site.

Entry Fee is ÂŁ18.00 per individual or ÂŁ36.00 per team.

The Junior Event on Saturday, mini duathlon open to 8 - 15yr olds, ÂŁ5 per entry.
