Galloway Pipes and Drums has around 25 members, the majority of whom are under 18 years of age. The band practices twice weekly on Tuesday and Sunday evenings with Tuesday practice evenings primarily used to teach up and coming players whilst Sunday evenings are used to practice as a band.

The band is currently led by Alister McCubbin (Pipe Major). The drumming side is led by our Leading Drummer, Steven Wilson alongside David Kirkpatrick (Drum Major).

Galloway Pipes and Drums play at a number of engagements throughout the year from parades and gala days, to weddings and private parties. Some of the events that the band have performed at include Dalbeattie Civic Day, Armadale Parade, Dumfries Guid Nychburris Parade and Gretna Gala Day.

The band also holds various fundraising events throughout the year in order to keep the band operating including an annual Coffee Morning which takes place in March each year at Dalbeattie Town Hall.
